How it works: 

In a bakery, you'll be charged a 100-200% mark up on the cost of ingredients and labor to cover the rent, insurance, and make a small profit for the bakery. The majority of what you pay for a cupcake in DC or NYC isn't for what you get!

Cherry Tea Cakes is different. There is no profit, only benefit.

When my schedule allows it, I take catering orders and the "profits" of the order, go to benefit a charity. The only money I keep is to cover the cost of the ingredients. The labor is all volunteer and in the end I feed you, and the impoverished. Unless asked otherwise I donate the profits to a local food bank.
